Your Body Is Not Broken — It's Speaking to You
The long version of why I built Luba's Longevity Lab. Hashimoto's, SIBO, the right tests, and the moment everything changed.

I spent years being dismissed by doctors who told me I was fine. Chronic exhaustion. Headaches four or five days a week. Irritable bowel syndrome. Heartburn. Body pain — the kind of pain you get when you have the flu, when even the lightest touch on your skin hurts. Very, very low energy. Bloodwork that came back normal. I was sent home, again and again, with the same verdict: everything looks fine. Nothing to worry about. Come back if it gets worse.
I wasn't fine. And I knew it.
My body was telling me something was wrong every single day — and the people I trusted to listen weren't listening. So I finally decided to take matters into my own hands. I found a functional medicine practitioner — someone I'd never met, someone I spoke to over the phone — and in one conversation, one round of bloodwork, she found what had been missed for years. Hashimoto's. A thyroid condition that explained the exhaustion, the headaches, the body pain, the heaviness I couldn't put words to.
I changed my diet the moment I got off that call. Not gradually. That same day. Because I was so tired of feeling sick that I wasn't willing to wait another hour to start doing something about it. One month later, my energy had returned. The headaches were gone. The body pain had disappeared.
I hadn't been broken. I'd been waiting for the right information.
That moment didn't end my journey. It started it. I discovered I had SIBO — small intestinal bacterial overgrowth — and I healed it. The bloating after every meal, the kind where your stomach is so distended it looks like you're carrying a food baby. Pain that just sat there, constantly, somewhere deep in your gut. That was SIBO. And before I had a name for it, it was just my normal.
The IBS had its own chapter. Elimination diets, low FODMAP — it helped a little, but not completely. Foods that weren't supposed to trigger me still triggered me. Every meal felt like a gamble. It wasn't until we addressed the underlying terrain that the IBS resolved — not managed, resolved.
The heartburn had its own story too. For years I was taking PPIs to reduce my stomach acid. They weren't working. I kept taking them, telling myself they probably weren't strong enough. It wasn't until I did a functional medicine panel and a stool test that I found out the truth: high stomach acid was never the issue. My heartburn had a completely different root cause — one the standard approach hadn't even looked for.
That was the moment I understood that the right test changes everything.
I reversed allergies I'd been told were permanent. Raw fruit, raw vegetables, raw seeds, herbs and spices — I couldn't eat any of it without a reaction. That meant microwaving everything. My salad. My strawberries. Can you imagine microwaving a salad? It comes out brown and flat. The strawberries go mushy — no crunch, no crispness. The osteoarthritis, the joint pain, the back and neck pain that had followed me for years — it all got better. One by one, the things I'd been told to accept began to resolve.
For years, all of this was just my life. I'd been told it was permanent. That this was simply how things were going to be. Until it wasn't. Not because I found a miracle. Because I finally found someone who ran the right tests, asked the right questions, and gave me the right information — and then I did the work.
That experience changed what I believed was possible. So I went back to school. I earned my naturopathic certification — not because I needed credentials to believe in my own healing, but because other people deserved what that practitioner had given me. Someone in the room who would actually look. Someone who wouldn't send them home with a verdict of fine when fine was clearly not the truth.
I built Luba's Longevity Lab for the person who's been told everything is fine, still knows deep down that it isn't, and is ready to make the changes that will finally make a difference.
Every single person who walks through my door is different. There aren't any cookie-cutter solutions here. What worked for me may not be exactly what works for you — and that isn't a problem, that's the point. Your body has its own story. Your labs will tell us something no one else's labs will. And that's where we start — with you, specifically, and what your body is actually asking for.
Nothing is permanently broken. Your body can heal.
